How Do Events Happen at PEX?
Since there are nine stewards, with diverse interests and abilities and resources, we do come up with and run quite a few of our own events. Mending meetup, art swap, and seed swap are things we just do. Some things we start at the suggestion of others - game night and mask bloc are a couple examples of that.
But the majority of things we do, and the things we prefer to do by far, are in partnership with the larger community. Some events look like a group effort, between bands or businesses or neighbors; like free camp or noise fest. Some events are a team of a steward-host and a community-host: Queer figure drawing, Pysanky egg drawing, prisoner solidarity, DnD, and trinket trade are run this way. And some things are just popups presented to us that we can make space for, like Poppies for Palestine and Beats N' Cats Records.
We love your ideas, we love your input, we love your creativity and your efforts and your openness to share knowledge and resources.
We're doing the whole thing together. For ourselves as much as for each other!
If there's something you're motivated to see, reach out, link up with a steward, and make it happen!
